Is being content or learning how to become content in your to-do list? Yes, have you ever thought of what will make you content? This means after achieving something you will be fully satisfied and happy and you will not need anything else ever after. Can this ever happen...
Today you may want something. Once you get it, you will need something else tomorrow. After you get that thing, you will need some other thing next week and then next month and so on. What does this mean? There is no end to ones wants and desires. In such scenario, how can one be satisfied and happy.
What if we change our mindset to seek for only what is required to satisfy our basic necessities and to perform our duties? What if we change our mindset to accept each other as we are with all the good things we have rather than focusing on the flaws and disabilities in each other. We know summer months are hot and winter months are cold but still we adjust ourselves to these changing seasons by dressing and eating accordingly. But when it comes to human beings and relationships, we always desire for others to change and for others to behave nicely with us. Then how will we receive contentment?
The world would become a wonderful place if our mindset is changed to live with content in each and every situation. The simplest method to develop contentment is to accept everyone and every situation and have zero expectations from anyone. But does our ego allow us to do this simple task which will make us happy and give us inner peace. We feel emotional when we are seeing a movie where a character is being harassed or with whom proper behaviour is not shown but we don't see any harm in doing the same with people around us. We always want others to look at a scenario from our point of view but we do not want to consider their point of view. We all participate and contribute to several social initiatives in our society, workplace or in the state or city or country we reside in, but the main change that we all need for the sake of the entire society is to develop the ability and commit to change our mindset as this will have unbelievable impact on everyone around us.
Next time when you desire for something more than you need just to satisfy your ego or to compete with others, take a step back and relish the contentment you will receive. Start enjoying wherever you are with whomsoever and with whatever you have at that time rather than keeping a never ending wish list in your mind and moving around with it in the form of a huge baggage. This will not only contribute to making the world a better place but it will transform yourself as a peaceful and contended human being.
