Elevating Celebrations

What do you think is the ideal way to celebrate an occasion, festival or something special?

To make a particular day, event, or any festival special, we often throw parties, arrange get-togethers, or plan outings and travel. Even if we decide to celebrate by doing something small or not doing something special at all, we do not forget to share something online in relation to that event or celebration.

Today, the true satisfaction of celebrating something only comes after we have shared it online. Maybe we seek to show society how well we celebrate and also prove to others that we have "ticked the box" of celebrating a particular occasion in style.

However, while doing this, we forget that there are a lot of people in society who may not be able to celebrate due to financial or other reasons. Many people do not even get the opportunity to travel to places that others travel easily. In such cases, our celebratory posts on social media may unintentionally heighten others' anxiety, pushing them further into a state of FOMO (fear of missing out). In a world where everyone is facing some or the other challenges, the least we can do is avoid making someone else's journey harder through our behavior, actions or communication.

Other than posting beautiful photographs of our celebrations and travels online, what else truly brings us true satisfaction and happiness from these moments?

What else have you done to celebrate a special event or festival in a unique manner leaving you with true contentment? Have you ever thought about this? When have you last explored a place or travelled somewhere without announcing it on social media?

To elevate celebrations, Sthitapragya Diaries recommends to its readers to adopt a slightly different mindset going forward when celebrating a festival or occasion. Start including all or at least some of the following practices within your celebration to-do list and elevate each of your celebrations to the next level with enhanced happiness, beautiful memories and celebration vibes forever:

To Do’s for Celebration

Congratulate/ greet your near and dear ones in person, and if that's not possible, atleast by speaking to them over phone.

Limit yourself to sharing minimum number of online posts/ stories related to celebrations.

Ideally, try to avoid them as much as possible.

This does not stop you from still clicking pictures purely for your memories.

If you are celebrating a festival, read and gain knowledge on the reason for celebrating that festival and share this with your family and friends.

If you are celebrating any other special occasion, such as marriage anniversaries or birthdays, each year few new habits should be embedded in your daily routine that upgrades yourself as well as your relationship with your partner and extended family.

Help someone in need especially while celebrating any occasion or festival.

If there are people around you who cannot celebrate a festival, do something that can bring celebration vibes for them.

Express gratitude and thank God for granting you another reason and day to celebrate.

Aim to spend some time chanting/ meditating or reciting the scriptures.

This will definitely soothe your soul and bliss you with the feeling of immense satisfaction.
