Time-killers

Pain-killers or insect-killers are quite common. But what are time-killers?

Anyone who knows about online or video gaming will definitely be aware of a weapon-based fighting arcade game called 'Timekillers' developed by Incredible Technologies. But in our day to day lives, time-killers are any actions, objects or people that not only waste our precious time but also impacts our mental health and well-being considerably leaving us feeling distracted, disturbed, low and unmotivated. Time-killers make every possible attempt to impact our life and our activities in such a way that our time becomes unproductive and wasted.

It is therefore very important to identify our time-killers before its too late. Once you are aware of your time-killers, you must take every effort to avoid them or, if not avoidable, spend minimum time with them. Some of the most common time-killers that we all face in our daily lives are:

People - when you start feeling low or negative after talking to someone, they are certainly not the healthy people to spend time with. On the contrary, there are certain people who make you feel inspired and charged even in few seconds. There are also certain people who only discuss their expectations from you rather than reminding you to think about working for your desires and expectations. The most important truth is that family, friends, relatives or office colleagues could also be time-killers.

Fear - this is one of the most important time-killer. Most of the time what we fear about is or may not be a real condition. Our mind manipulates us to overthink unnecessarily when we try to take on a new challenge or want to move out of our comfort zone. When fear tries to scare you, just let it come and go without dwelling in it completely and then continue doing your best. This will give you confidence and will help you to break the chain of fear.

Thoughts - According to a research, the average person has approximately 60,000 thoughts per day. But what is truly concerning is that 75% of these thoughts are negative, and 95% are repetitive. This constant barrage of negative and repetitive thoughts can significantly impact our mental health, happiness, and overall quality of life. Therefore, it is very important that this time-killer is not only identified but a pragmatic approach is taken to deal with it. Activities such as taking time to inspire yourself through books, movies, reading materials or any other inspirational content becomes extremely important to deal with this time-killer.

Lack of routine planning - Waking up, doing household chores, going to work and such other activities are not routine. These are basic necessities or tasks which everyone needs to perform to survive like eating food. Everyone's daily routine should include activities that make one more peaceful, calm and satisfied such as expressing gratitude, learning something new, performing any activity as a contribution to the society an so on.

This weekend spend a few minutes to identify and make a list of your time-killers so that next time when these time-killers or peace-takers try to bother you or make you feel low and unproductive, you not only are aware of them but also prepare yourself such that they cannot kill your most precious and never returning time as well as they do not negatively impact your mental health, happiness or wellbeing. Sthitapragya Diaries recommends all its readers to read about lifestyle, routine and struggles of atleast one freedom fighter or any other successful person every week.
