Whose life are you living?

ree

Whose life are you living? The quick answer that we all will be easily able to provide is 'Definitely mine'.

Let's ask ourselves few questions and then let's see whether the above answer still remains the same:

1) How much of your time in a day is being spent in talking about others and thinking about what others should do and their expected behavior?

2) Do you constantly like to be surrounded by people and want to talk to others or want to connect and chat with others on social media?

If the answer to any part of the above questions is positive, it means that you are not completely living your life. Yes, you are living others life. This is nothing else but wasting of your most valuable time and human birth.

We are mindful enough to avoid junk food as it is not healthy for our body. We also try to maintain good hygiene to avoid suffering from any illness. However, we easily like to spend most of our time in things that are nothing less than time killers, one of which is, talking about what others should do and how others should behave rather than spending time on improving ownself, replacing unproductive habits with productive habits, gaining knowledge, or anything else that relates to ownself. Surely, this proves that we are ready to spend our most previous human birth in living others life.

Just as it is our duty to pay tax and follow the rules of the country we reside or the organization we are associated with, it is our duty to make efficient use of our human birth. Sthitapragya Diaries recommends its readers to begin this journey by adopting the following life changing habits:

  1. Create a daily 24-hour plan for yourself. Challenge yourself by incorporating additional activities in your daily schedule. These activities should be in addition to your daily chores and should relate to all your life areas, that is, home, work as well as for your physical self. Add these activities to your to do list such that 24 hours of every day is fully occupied in doing something or the other except for talking about people's behavior whether online or offline. Try incorporating atleast few activities that would really make a difference in the society and contribute towards the betterment of the society and eventually the planet. This will give you immense satisfaction and purpose.

  2. Start practicing 'Isolophilia' every day. Find a peaceful corner, a journal, nature, a cup of warm tea and most importantly yourself. Sit with your body and mind wholly present and embrace solitude. This is a much-needed daily practice currently to handle the unnecessary pressure and challenges that life throws upon us daily. Choose a time that fits naturally into your routine. Let it be your sacred, quiet moment to converse with yourself, free from noise and disturbance. Remember, no matter how many branded products, possessions or comforts you own, your list of true assets will always remain incomplete unless it includes this personal space where you meet yourself.

  3. Prepare a habits chart for yourself. List down all your habits especially the unproductive habits that are swallowing your time. Daily few minutes should be spent on reflecting on this list and consciously taking small steps to reduce the time you devote to unhealthy or unhelpful habits. Before commenting on the behavior or habits of others, pause and turn the mirror inward. Become aware of your own unproductive patterns and invest your energy in improving them. True growth begins not with judging or talking endless about others, but with refining the self.

Wherever we live on this planet, we all experience the effect of the different seasons. Whether we like it or not, the nature challenges us, and we adjust our lifestyle, food, clothing and activities accordingly. We do not continuously talk about how hot or cold it is and that it should have been less cold or less hot. Similarly, let's adjust our mindset in such a way that we enhance ourselves and live our life while accepting the behavior and habits of others rather than continuously spending our never returning time in endless complaining or criticism which will not help us in any manner.

Let us begin truly living our own lives by dedicating ourselves to self-improvement and giving our best to the society and attempt to make this world a better place.
