Transformation from Loneliness to Aloneness

On the occasion of the International Yoga Day celebrated recently all over the world, we had arranged a yoga event in our community followed by a networking session to socialize with the families residing in the community. One of the hot topics that was in discussion on this wonderful day was that every other person these days is overwhelmed with the feeling of loneliness. This is actually a big concern for all of us. Irrespective of the age, wealth, size of the family or occupation of a person, we often hear many people complaining about feeling lonely most of the times. Some people feel the constant necessity to talk with someone while some feel lonely even though they are surrounded by people always. Many people have money, fame and everything else that they want but still they feel lonely. According to a global survey conducted in 2021, about 33 percent of adults alone experienced feelings of loneliness worldwide.

Loneliness is the state of being alone and feeling sad about it. Loneliness is a lack, a feeling that something is missing, a pain, a depression, a need, an incompleteness, an absence.

Loneliness can only be overcome by learning to be happy and content in self which means learning to be alone. Yes, aloneness is presence, fullness, aliveness, joy of being, overflowing love. You are complete. Nobody is needed, you are enough.

We all need to understand that the transformation from loneliness to aloneness is very much required in order to live a peaceful and healthy life. For this transformation, we all need to accept our lives as it is with the people and circumstances given to us rather than striving to have received better version of them. Moreover, the important thing that we often forget is that we are responsible for making us feel the way we want - whether lonely or not. Until and unless we are satisfied with ourselves and we feel pleasant with ourselves, we will continue being lonely and blaming others for making us feel the same. For example, if it is your birthday don't wait for others to wish you. Instead celebrate yourself and start your new year the way you want rather than spending the whole day with a long list of expectations from others making others responsible for your happiness.

Don't waste the most valuable hours of your life by falling into the trap of being lonely which is nothing other than a false emotion no matter what the circumstances are. Keep on engaging yourself in something or other, doing things you love to do and performing your duties to the best of your abilities. Relinquish the people and their talks that demotivate you and focus on the good qualities that God has given to you and work continuously to serve the world with these qualities. Cherish yourself always and live in the feeling of solitude rather than being lonely. Start your transformation process today and enjoy the bliss.
